Find Prentiss County Release Dates

A Prentiss County projected release date depends on the kind of custody and the sentence record. People often ask when will they be released, but a pretrial detainee has no fixed sentence-based date because bond and court action control the next step. A sentenced state inmate may have a calculated date in the state corrections record. Mississippi uses several date labels, and none should be treated as the actual time a person leaves. County jail time, state prison time, parole review, community supervision, and final discharge also follow separate records. The safest answer keeps each date tied to the agency that calculated or ordered it.

Prentiss County Release Date Terms

Mississippi's public MDOC record labels its estimate Tentative Release Date. That exact phrase matters. A projected date is common search language, but the agency separately calculates an Earned Release Supervision date, a Tentative Release Date, and a Maximum Release Date. A parole eligibility date and a Parole Board action are different milestones. The time of physical release is different again.

Pretrial detention has no computed sentence end. A person at the Prentiss County Jail may leave after bond, dismissal, a court order, or another custody event. The Prentiss County courts supply legal authority, while the sheriff's jail docket supplies the actual exit or transfer entry. A sentenced county detainee needs the court judgment and the sheriff's own time computation. MDOC's state formula cannot be applied to a local jail term without local authority.

Scheduled versus actual: A tentative date predicts a possible state release. The agency release document and custody history establish what happened.

A person who leaves prison on parole or Earned Release Supervision can remain under state control. ERS means physical release under MDOC jurisdiction before sentence expiration. Final discharge is the later formal end shown by the controlling record. These labels should never be compressed into one date.

Tentative Release Date
MDOC's public estimate, which can change and can be blank.
ERS
Earned Release Supervision, a release from the institution while MDOC jurisdiction continues.
Detainer
A hold or request from another authority that may prevent community release.
Discharge
The formal end documented by the sentence or supervision record.

Find Prentiss County Release Dates

First identify the last known custodian. The MDOC Inmate Search covers state corrections, including state inmates who may be placed at the Joint State/County Inmate Work Center. It does not cover every person held at Prentiss County Jail. The search accepts first name, last name, or an MDOC ID number. An MDOC number gives the strongest match.

The state detail can show identity and sentence fields alongside the estimate. County of conviction and county of current placement may differ. Follow a fixed sequence so that a county transfer is not mistaken for release.

  1. Classify the custody as Prentiss County Jail, the joint state/county work center, another MDOC location, or a different jurisdiction.
  2. For state custody, search the MDOC number. Compare name, birth date, photograph, county of conviction, sentence date, offense, Entry Date, Location, and Unit.
  3. Copy the Tentative Release Date exactly. If it is blank, record it as blank rather than estimating a date.
  4. Read Location and Location Change Date. A move from Booneville to another MDOC site is a transfer, not community release.
  5. Check the separate MDOC Parolee Search when community supervision may have begun. A result supports parole status, not final discharge.
  6. For a county sentence, call Prentiss County Jail at 662-728-2016 and obtain the judgment plus the sheriff's actual computation or release entry.
  7. When the public display remains unclear, request the MDOC time sheet, jail-credit computation, custody history, release basis, and discharge certificate.

The broader Prentiss County released-inmate search path explains how the jail docket and court order work together for a local release. Do not use MDOC as the default for someone who never entered state custody.

The official search screen shows the fields used for a state lookup. Review the MDOC Inmate Search source before relying on its current layout.

Prentiss County Tentative Date Details

A key Mississippi distinction is that the public field is tentative, while MDOC also calculates ERS and maximum dates. The MDOC supervision explanation separates those terms and describes the agency's role in date calculation. The State Parole Board decides discretionary parole. The sheriff does not calculate state parole dates.

A public example can display a Tentative Release Date, while another valid detail record may leave the field blank. A blank does not mean life, never, already released, or an unknown date that a reader may calculate. It means no date is shown in that field. Request the state record or have the incarcerated person ask the case manager for exact release-date information.

The image below is an interface example only. It must not be read as proof that the person shown has been released. The MDOC example detail source illustrates where the label appears.

MDOC uses the label Tentative Release Date on its offender detail layout.

The label signals an estimate. It is not an actual gate time, Board grant, or discharge certificate.

Note: Preserve a blank tentative-date field as blank because filling it with an estimate creates a fact that MDOC did not publish.

Prentiss County Earned-Time Rules

For covered state sentences imposed after June 30, 1995, Miss. Code section 47-5-138 generally authorizes an eligible inmate to receive four and one-half days of earned-time allowance for each thirty days served when MDOC finds the conduct and work requirements met. The ordinary allowance is capped at fifteen percent of the sentence. That limit produces the common shorthand of about eighty-five percent in confinement.

The shorthand is not a calculator. Offense, offense date, sentence date, statutory exclusion, an age-specific rule, concurrent or consecutive terms, jail credit, conduct, forfeited credit, a court change, and other release mechanisms can alter the calculation. Section 47-5-139 addresses exclusions and forfeiture. Section 47-5-142 covers meritorious earned time, section 47-5-138.1 addresses ERS administration, and section 47-5-157 concerns discharge or release documentation. The current official code and MDOC computation control.

Parole eligibility is also separate. Under section 47-7-3 and related law, thresholds vary by offense and governing category. Eligibility does not equal a grant. It does not establish the date the person will physically leave. MDOC's FAQ warns that parole and ERS dates are not guaranteed, and release still depends on the governing record and final processing.

Why Prentiss County Release Dates Change

A calculated date can move because the underlying inputs or legal status change. Some changes concern sentence math. Others concern a hold, court order, parole decision, or the release process itself. The source of the change should be named in any record of the date.

A location change does not prove release. This is especially important at the Joint State/County Inmate Work Center. Its participants remain state inmates. Departure from the Booneville placement can mean transfer to another MDOC site, entry into lawful supervision, or discharge. Read the new location and request the custody history before describing the event.

Note: A detainer can shift a planned community release into another agency's custody even when one facility closes its record.

Prentiss County Release Travel Planning

Travel planning belongs to the MDOC release process, not to the Prentiss County Jail. The MDOC release FAQ says the inmate's case manager provides exact release-date information and verifies travel plans. The stated release process can take thirty to forty-five days. When bus travel is requested, MDOC may buy an in-state ticket to the destination or nearest city, but not an out-of-state ticket.

That travel detail cannot be used to predict a release date. It shows why a date calculation and physical departure are not the same event. Residence review, travel confirmation, a detainer, and release documents may still be addressed after eligibility or a tentative date is known. MDOC also says the inmate must receive a discharge certificate before release, but the certificate must be read in context because ERS or parole can involve continuing jurisdiction.

No source establishes a county jail release door, release-processing hours, transport program, weekend policy, or family waiting area in Prentiss County. Call the jail for day-of-release logistics. Do not attribute MDOC's bus policy or case-manager process to the sheriff.

Confirm Prentiss County Release Dates

Use a date as a lead, then confirm the event. For state custody, compare the MDOC detail, Parolee Search when relevant, custody history, and the release or discharge document. For Prentiss County Jail, pair the sheriff's jail-docket entry with the court judgment or release order. The order explains legal authority. The docket gives the operational exit time and can show whether the event was a transfer.

VINELink release notifications can report a custody change for a specific person in a participating county or MDOC record. The Prentiss jail page distinguishes release, transfer, and escape events. Save the event text and time, but follow it with the originating record. A notice is not a certified discharge instrument.

When the state web display is incomplete, use the MDOC GovQA portal. Request the offender data sheet, sentence and time sheet, jail-credit calculation, location history, actual release date and basis, parole or ERS start, maximum or final discharge date, and discharge certificate. Include the MDOC number, full name, county of conviction, cause number, and date range.

The strongest answer states what each record proves. A tentative date is predictive. A Board grant is authorization subject to processing. A parolee result supports a supervision status within that search. The physical release record states when custody ended, while final discharge marks the end of the governing term. That record chain answers when a Prentiss County person may leave without promising a date that can still change.
